Funding Success for the Community Team

Posted Wednesday July 31, 2019

A bit about the Project - Dungeons, Dragons and Ninjas is a Social Support Group for Neuro-divergent Youth, using a combination of cooperative table top role playing games, yoga, meditation, and flow arts (fire throwing) to teach and learn social skills as well as coping and tolerance skills in a fun group activity based setting.

A common theme in the interests of young (female and male) people aged between 16-24 diagnosed with Austism Spectrum Disorder are Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Anime, Martial Arts, PC gaming and table top games.

The grant - We were successful in receiving a grant to purchase the Dungeons and Dragons Board game, this includes the Players Handbook, Game board, Master Guide, Realm figures, dice and master screen.

We were also kindly offered free venue hire at Studio 2 to hold our gaming evenings, which will consist of a 12 week programme.

Our goal - Connections will be made with other young people and foster friendships through shared interest groups, enable creativity and attain increased confidence for self-expression, develop robust interpersonal skills, reciprocating conversation, understanding emotional expression and empathy, overcoming fears and encourage experimentation and fortitude in challenging behaviours.

Accountability - We are required to provide photos and a half page story and attend a Potluck dinner party in October to share our success and participate in the 2020 Grant Review and Ranking process to select the 2020 grant recipients.

Thank you to the Thank You Charitable Trust.
