Support Workers – Dunedin

Permanent Reliever Full-Time position

Interested in working alongside people while doing something meaningful?

We're looking for people who wish to make a difference to the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.

While having experience as a support worker in mental health, youth, or behaviour support is advantageous, don’t let limited experience put you off applying. Experience in being a human, and the right attitude, is most important to us.

We will provide comprehensive training and support to get you up to speed, and if you complete a level 4 qualification you can earn up to $27.43 per hour.

Our work is varied, as we partner with a range of people including those with an intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, youth, dual diagnosis, and people with a disability that have committed a criminal offence.

This is role is a permanent full-time position designed to cover other support workers for leave and training. If you are flexible around the days and you can work, this role may suit you.

However, shifts are assigned with 3 weeks’ notice but can be subject to change. Your workings days rotate on a 4-week roster, with one weekend off every four weeks.

What might a typical day look like, you ask? It depends on the person that you work with, but it could include supporting them with their shopping, helping them develop the confidence to get out into the community, or just being there to talk to and to foster positive social interactions.

CCT is a longstanding organisation with our roots in Otago and Southland (and recently expanded into Canterbury), and a reputation for ‘walking the talk.’  We have been providing support for a long time, but always bring a fresh and innovative approach to all that we do!  We are a people-focused organisation, and bring a forward-thinking, collaborative approach with a strong desire to make a difference.

Go ahead and apply now.  We can fill you in about what makes us unique at an interview or let us know if you have any questions by contacting one of the People and Capability team at or call 0800 800 001 and ask for David or Frankie.

 The serious stuff…

  • Have received two doses of Covid-19 vaccination and be intending to have a booster when eligible
  • Be able to work at least one weekend shift per week
