Behaviour Specialist Intern Dunedin

Exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic motivated person to work in a Behaviour Specialist Team.

Community Care Trust aims to help people live a great life. We work in partnership with both youth and adults in Southland, Otago and Central Otago who have Intellectual Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders, or other support needs.

We are looking for a registered Occupational Therapist to provide professional and clinical input alongside our dedicated Behaviour Specialist Team. Our aim is to have a multi-disciplinary team and we currently have a registered Social Worker, a Psychologist and an Occupational Therapist.

Consideration will also be given to other relevant registrations including Speech Language Therapists and Registered Social Workers. We will also consider candidates without a professional registration if they are a good fit for the team.

The role is primarily developing positive behaviour support programmes for people we support. However the position provides a lot of opportunity and development. Members of the Behaviour Team have been involved in Cultural Projects, Research, Healthy Workplace Challenges, and Strategic Plans. Required –

  • Current First Aid Certificate (or be willing to complete one at your own cost)
  • Full current NZ Driver License and be eligible to work in New Zealand
  • Occupational Therapy Registration, OR other relevant registration

Qualification and Prior learning will be considered in length of internship and remuneration.

Behaviour Specialist Interns form part of the Community Care Trust after hours Crisis Behaviour Support Team and will be rostered on rotation with other Dunedin team members.
