Behaviour Specialist - Dunedin

Closes: 19 October, 2021 at 4:00 PM

Community Care Trust’s Vision is a world that truly values and celebrates diversity.  To realise this vision, we work in partnership with people to enable them to have great lives.

Since our inception in 1995 we have evolved as an innovative and progressive organisation, guided by what each person’s unique support needs are, and what they want to achieve in their life.  Our values underpin our practice and we “walk the talk,” staying true to the philosophy that people have the right to determine their own life.

Our team are diverse, dedicated, and professional.  We recognise the difference between good and great support is a well-trained team and we invest significantly in this area.   We have been awarded silver accreditation against the Investors in People Standard, demonstrating our commitment to realising the potential of our all our employees.

Our work is varied, and we partner with a range of people including people with an intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, youth, dual diagnosis, and people with a disability that have committed a criminal offence.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Behaviour Specialist to join our Behaviour Specialist Team.  This is a full-time role based in our Dunedin office.  To be successful in this role your personal values will align with those of Community Care Trust: respect, reliability, transparency, and responsiveness.

Ideally you will have prior experience in behaviour support and a relevant qualification.  We may consider applicants with less experience subject to the completion of a competency-based behaviour support internship if successfully appointed to the role.

The Behaviour Specialist will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support staff to provide safe and positive support to people whose behaviour present challenges.  Behaviour Specialists undertake functional behavioural assessments and develop behaviour support plans containing evidence-based, proactive strategies that meet the specific needs of the person displaying challenging behaviour.

You will be a welcome addition to our team if you have:

  • A desire to make a difference
  • A can-do attitude
  • The ability to accept feedback and adapt to it

You must have:

  • Current First Aid Certificate (or be willing to complete one at your own cost)
  • Full current NZ Driver Licence and be eligible to work in New Zealand

This is a full-time, salaried position, with usual hours of work being Monday to Friday 8.30am-5.00pm.    Behaviour Specialists form part of the Community Care Trust after-hours crisis behaviour support and will be rostered on rotation with other Dunedin team members.

Our organisation has a strong commitment to safeguarding children and any employees will be vetted to a level appropriate to the role for which they have applied.  We are committed to equal opportunities and value diversity in our workforce.

Applications close 4.00pm, Tuesday, 19th October 2021.
